Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how 83 Ventures GmbH ("we", "us", "our") handles personal data when you visit getmantel.app or use the Mantel macOS application ("Mantel", the "App"). We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG).

2. Website

Our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (USA). Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) are processed automatically for delivery and security purposes (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest).

We use no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking on this website.

3. Purchases

Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy LLC (USA), our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects the data needed to complete your purchase under its own privacy policy. We receive a limited subset (name, email, country, license key) for license management and customer support (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR — contract performance).

4. The Mantel App

Mantel runs locally on your Mac. The App contains no telemetry, no analytics, and no crash reporting. We do not collect usage statistics, command history, or terminal output.

The App makes outbound network requests in two situations:

• License management. When you activate or re-validate your license, the App contacts Lemon Squeezy and transmits your license key together with a stable device identifier derived from macOS. The identifier is used only to enforce the per-license activation limit and is not linked to your name or location (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR — contract performance).
• Update checks. The App checks GitHub for new releases. The request includes only your app version, macOS version, and CPU architecture (standard HTTPS metadata). No license key or device identifier is sent. Updates are downloaded only after you approve the prompt (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in providing security updates).

All other features — git/GitHub repository detection, package.json script discovery, theme application, recent-directory tracking — operate locally on your Mac and make no network requests.

The App stores license information, recent project directories, theme settings, and update preferences locally on your Mac. These files do not leave your device.

5. Email Support

If you contact us, we process your message and contact details to respond (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR).

6. International Data Transfers

Some processors (Netlify, Lemon Squeezy, GitHub) are based in the United States. Transfers are safeguarded by EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR — for us: Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Rheinland-Pfalz).

8. Data Retention

License and purchase records are kept for as long as legally required (typically 10 years under German tax law). Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days. Support emails are deleted when no longer needed.

9. Security

We use HTTPS for all web traffic. The macOS binary is code-signed and notarized by Apple. We follow industry-standard practices to protect data, but no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

10. Children

Mantel is a developer tool not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always available at getmantel.app/privacy. Material changes will be communicated where reasonably possible.
